I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I completed my PhD at The University of Wisconsin - Madison under the supervision of Marty Isaacs. My personal research interests lie in character theory and finite group theory. I also enjoy finding mathematics in unconventional settings, such as in games, movies, and knitting. My teaching style is inquiry based and my interests lie in creating as many hands on interactive learning experiences as possible. It is not uncommon for me to “poison” cupcakes, prepare a dramatic reading, create fidget spinners, force students to try on lots and lots of shoes, or shuffle students all over the place with cards. These events usually happen in some type of calculus class, a discrete structures course, abstract algebra, or computer science.
